Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 2026

ScholarPair keeps cookies to a minimum. We use a small number of essential cookies and no advertising, marketing, or cross-site tracking cookies.

1. Essential cookies we set

  • Session cookie keeps you signed in after you sign in with Google. It holds a signed session identifier, not your password.
  • sp_anon counts how many free searches you have run as a guest, so we can offer a fair number before asking you to sign in. It is cryptographically signed and contains only a small number, no personal data.
  • Google sign-in cookies are set briefly during the Google OAuth flow to protect the sign-in from tampering (state and nonce), then are no longer needed.

2. Local storage

We store a single flag in your browser (sp_cookie_ok) to remember that you have dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every visit. This never leaves your device.

3. What we do not use

No advertising cookies, no marketing pixels, no cross-site tracking, and no third-party analytics that profile you.

4. Controlling cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking the essential cookies above will prevent sign-in and the free-search counter from working correctly.

5. Contact
